Advent Speaker Replacements

People often use the Misco 6102 woofer* to replace the Baby Advent woofers.

Allison CD-9 Speaker Replacements

Allison CD-9: the Seas Prestige 27TDFC (H1189) Textile Dome Tweeter is a good replacement but you will have to notch the Allison cutouts slightly to fit the wiring terminals.

Dunlavy Speaker Replacements

To match the drivers in your SC- or other model Dunlavy speaker, you would have to remove the drivers from the cabinet and inspect them for size and model number. Then call us at 608-831-3433 or refer to our Dunlavy equivalency found below. We don't have a stock or pre built crossover or schematic for Dunlavy speakers. Most of these replacement drivers are now discontinued. Buy your replacements now!

Dynaudio Tweeter Replacements

Original parts are available from Dynaudio dealers. Dynaudio Driver Catalog (PDF).

D21AF tweeter

We recommend the Eton 19SD-1 tweeter*. You need to use new screw holes.

Now use the Morel MDT32S tweeter. Switching from a 3/4" to 1" dome but still on a 110mm faceplate. Similar specs.

D21/2 tweeter

We recommend the Eton 19SD-1 tweeter*. You need to use new screw holes.

Now use the Morel MDT32S tweeter. Switching from a 3/4" to 1" dome but still on a 110mm faceplate. Similar specs.

D28AF tweeter

We recommend the Morel MDT32S tweeter. The screw holes are slightly off, you might turn it 180 and use new screw holes.

D28/2 tweeter

We recommend the Morel MDT32S tweeter. The screw holes are slightly off, you might turn it 180 and use new screw holes.

Dynaudio Woofer Replacements

Some Dynaudio woofers can have new surrounds installed by Miller Sound.

Dynaco Speaker Replacements

Dynaco A25 Tweeter

The tweeter for this speaker is no longer in production and Seas recommends using their new Sonotex fabric dome, the Seas Prestige 27TFFC (H0881).

Dynaco A25 woofer

The woofer is no longer made in this frame size. A new verison of this system is now available as the Seas Prestige A26RE4 (H1411) with modern parts. It will not fit the old speaker without some modifications to the cabinet.

Hales Speaker Replacements

Hales Transcendence Tweeters

We're not sure which models. They used a metal dome tweeter. Original is metal dome and this is textile. It is on the same voice coil chassis (Scanspeak Voice Coil D3004). This has been working as the only known fix for over 10 years now.

Infinity Speaker Replacements

Infinity Kappa 8.1

The Scan-Speak Discovery D7608/9200-10 is a perfect replacement.

Infinity 6" 2-way systems

The Misco 6102 woofer* can be used to replace many of the sealed box 6" 2-way Infinity speakers. Check the size carefully.

Kef Speaker Replacements

Kef 107 Replacement Woofers

WAM Engineering experimented with the Seas Prestige CA26RFX (H1305) as a replacement for the 10” woofers in the Kef 107 speaker. They said these woofers worked great and would recommend them as a good replacement.

Kef T33A Replacement

A good replacement for an 8 ohm Kef T33A is the Morel MDT30S tweeter. The T33A is a 95mm square tweeter and the MDT30S is a 94mm round tweeter. The cut out hole is the same diameter. The MDT30S won’t cover the same physical area as the square T33A tweeter, but it will still fit within the area of a recessed (flush mounted) T33A tweeter. The tweeter will work with the existing crossover and is an acceptable replacement.

Kef 104/2 Tweeter Repair

The Morel MDT29-4 tweeter is often used to replace the tweeter in the Kef 104/2. The tweeter is not a perfect fit and requires some work. You need to remove the front flange. The voice coil assembly is now exposed. You need to trim down the plastic rim on the voice coil to get it to fit into the speaker bracket.

Spica Speaker Replacements

Spica TC50

The Audax tweeters used in this speaker are available again! The new tweeter is the Audax TW025A2 tweeter, replacing the old part number of HD100D25. The woofer is the Hif 17JVX 4 ohm and we don't know of any similar speaker to replace this driver. There is no fix for the woofer that we are aware of. Bad woofer = junk speaker.

Spica TC60

The Scan-Speak Discovery D2606/9220 is a drop-in replacement tweeter.

Thiel Audio

Thiel CS3.5

Original driver was the Scan-Speak 13M/8521. PBN Audio has done some research on a replacement for this speaker. Peter has decided that the Scan-speak 10F/8424G is a perfect replacement. It is smaller than the original midrange, so they have machined a metal adapter plate. It is sold as a 13M/8521 Replacement Part.

Another suggested replacement with good customer experience recommendation is the Scan-Speak Discovery 12W/8524G. This unit is 5mm smaller and has slightly lower sensitivity than the 13M/8521.

Thiel (CS2.2, CS3.6, etc) speakers that used a Vifa D26AG36-04.

The original is a metal dome but we do have a soft dome replacement voice coil that will fit it, Scanspeak Voice Coil D3004. It is on the same voice coil chassis and also 4 ohm impedance. Consider clipping off the protective three pronged grill for best performance and/or if there are dome clearance issues.

With many very popular Vifa tweeters being discontinued, or difficult for us to acquire, here is your best bet for replacements: Aluminum dome Vifa D25AGXX-06 --> SEAS Prestige 27TBFC/G (H1212)
